Whether you’re curious about different programs, have questions about the application process, or are looking for a student’s perspective to life at TRU, you’ve come to the right place.

Who are we?

Some of our posts will be written by our Future Student Ambassadors, who are current TRU students. Everything else will be from Future Students Office Staff. But who are we?

There are 10 of us in the Future Students Office and, while we may all come from vastly different backgrounds (but many of us are TRU Alumni!), we all have two things in common:

1. We love TRU

2. We want to help with your transition to becoming a TRU Student

Who do we help?

We work with future domestic undergraduate students… which sounds like a bit of a mouthful, we know. Basically, if you’re a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and you’re interested in pursuing a certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree, we’ve got your back. Still not sure what any of that means? That’s what we’re here for!

We also have Qelmúcw Recruiters in the Future Students Office who are here specifically for students or prospective students that identify as First Nation, Métis, or Inuit of Canada. They can help with all the subjects our Student Recruiter – Advisors cover about TRU, from an Indigenous perspective.

What do we help with?

Students talking on the stairs of the Trades and Technology building.

So many things!

  • Program exploration, pre-admission advising and applications—it’s normal to have a lot of questions!
  • Funding support and scholarship opportunities—there shouldn’t be any barriers to getting the correct info at the right time.
  • Registration and timetabling—balance that schedule, we gotchu!
  • Housing and student life—arguably just as crucial as your studies.

Have a question or topic that isn’t listed here? You can still reach out to us! If we don’t know the answer, we definitely know where to find it.

Why bother meeting with us or following along with this blog?

We’ve all been there. Trying to decide what direction to take with post-secondary education can be daunting and the transition can feel overwhelming. It feels like such a life-altering decision. But there isn’t one “right” path to follow, no perfect set of boxes to check off in order to find success. In our office, we believe that finding your path is more of a journey. It’s what university is all about and we’re here to help!

“When I started as a student at TRU, I was nervous to ask the wrong question to the wrong person, so I just tried to figure everything out myself. Now I know that TRU staff really are here to help, so if you have a question, just ask!”

Courtney, Student Recruiter – Advisor

We understand what this time is like for you because we’ve lived it. And we want to ensure that you don’t have to experience it alone.

My favourite part of being a Recruiter is working with students one-on-one to help them break down the admission process and reach their goals. I love seeing nervousness change to excitement when students begin the next chapter of their lives.”

Meghan, Student Recruiter – Advisor

We’re here to take those feelings of overwhelm and shift them into recognizing the potential and possibilities of this next stage of your life. It should be fun! We hope you’re excited to follow along!
